Doja Cat drops her new album “Planet Her”.
After announcing it earlier this month, Doja Cat has released her brand new album “Planet Her“, a follow-up to 2019’s “Hot Pink”, which peaked at #9 on the charts. The album packed with already released singles & videos “Need To Know” and SZA assisted “Kiss Me More“. “For the next project, it will be similar to [2019 album] Hot Pink, in the sense that each of the songs are very different from each other,” she said.
The project contains 14 tracks with guest appearances from Young Thug on “Pay Day“, Ariana Grande on “I Don’t Do Drugs“, The Weeknd on “You Right” and “Options” with JID.
Planet Her is the artist’s first full-length release since “Hot Pink” in 2019, with David LaChapelle shooting the album art. In a prior interview, Doja Cat said, “I suppose in the beginning, I was simply trying to be solid and be what a pop artist already was: what I’d seen on TV and what I thought was the appropriate thing to do. But as I move on into this Planet Her era, I want to introduce things to people as opposed to just re-create and rehash. It’s just more inspiring to start from a more innovative spot.”
Doja was discovered by Kemosabe Records and RCA Records through SoundCloud when she was 17 years old, and her first studio album, Amala, was published in 2018, but it didn’t take off until her viral meme hit “Mooo!” went viral, which helped subsequent singles “Candy” and “Juicy” travel as well. With 2019’s Hot Pink, she cemented her status as a superstar, especially after the lead single “Say So” topped the Billboard Hot 100. She follows through on her pledge on “Planet Her”.
