This is How Proof Celebrated Eminem’s Birthday.
The legendary Eminem is closing in the 50s as the Detroit Rapper celebrates his 49th Birthday Today (Oct. 17). From the archives, Check out this footage from a couple of decades ago, When Eminem’s best friend and D12 member Proof threw a surprise Birthday Party for him in 1998. He planned a Prank for Eminem where Proof was Supposed to battle long-time rival Canibus. Nothing was held back even fake flyers were printed for the event.
The intricacies behind Eminem and Proof’s early friendship are best allowed to be discovered through their music. Songs like “Groundhog Day,” which was featured as a bonus track on The Marshall Mathers LP 2, capture their dynamic: two young aspiring emcees anxious to show off their new music, assessing each other’s progress and delivering constructive criticism on an equal footing.
During the same night, Eminem was also surprised by an appearance from two of his idols, the legendary Big Daddy Kane and Biz Markie. The unseen footage was shared by D12’s Kuniva a few months ago when Biz Markie was passed away at the age of 57. “In honor of a pioneer. I usually try to keep my personal pics and footage to myself bc people steal them and post like it’s theirs. So I kept the old a** text up on the screen from the two way. 😉But this was one of the most memorable nights EVER. The first time I met the legends @officialbizmarkie and @officialbigdaddykane at the bro @eminem surprise 26th Bday party we threw him at St. Andrews in Detroit. This was definitely a highlight in my life and I was just as starstruck as Em lol RIP to a GREAT legend who was super cool and showed us all love that night. #NobodyBeatsTheBIZ #RIPBigProoF,” he wrote.
