Doja Cat drops “Young Right” video with The Weeknd.
After releasing her highly anticipated new album “Planet Her” earlier tonight, Doja Cat continues releasing new material as she drops the music video for The Weeknd featured “You Right“. The magical music video is directed by Quentin Deronzier. The duo also collaborated on the remix of “In Your Eyes” last year.
The new album also features guest appearances from Ariana Grande, JID, Young Thug, and SZA. Doja released the second single off her third studio album, Planet Her, on June 11th. It’s one of three Dr. Luke-produced tracks on the album (and they’re not the finest; the Y2k-produced ones are). These days, Dr. Luke is more known for his legal struggle with Kesha over assault accusations. Doja, like many other women, had a professional connection with a guy before the full story was revealed, which isn’t all that shocking in today’s society. Doja’s track record of not exhibiting penitence for her audience, on the other hand, is scandalous. Doja isn’t trapped by the predictability of pop success, whether it’s her use of the f-slur in her apologies for using the f-slur or her seeming indifference following a “showing feet in racist chatrooms” brouhaha.
On June 25, 2021, a music video for “You Right” was released alongside the album. Doja Cat made an appearance in an episode of YouTube Originals’ Released series prior to the release. Doja Cat appears in the music video in a Greek goddess-like palace in the sky. She sings about her desire to cheat on her partner (played by model Chris Petersen) with the Weeknd, who attempts to persuade Doja Cat to do so.
