DaBaby drops ‘Rockstar’ video.
DaBaby continues releasing new material as he teams up with Roddy Ricch for the official visual for their number 1 Billboard Hot 100 single “Rockstar“. The song appeared on DaBaby’s latest “Blame it On Baby” album and he recently also released a Black Lives Matter remix of the song.
DaBaby and partner Roddy Ricch appear in the video for “Rockstar” in a world overrun by guitar-wielding zombies, but they pledge to squeeze their Glocks (and then some). A credits scene — soundtracked by DaBaby’s Black Lives Matter “Rockstar” remix verse — illustrates how a three-person directing crew and DaBaby standbys Reel Goats pulled it off with masks and some distance. It won’t be as simple as putting some zombies in the ground to put an end to this pandemic, but if it were, we’d know who to contact.
Following the release of the Black Lives Matter remix of his song, the rapper from Charlotte, North Carolina altered his verses to confront issues of police brutality and systemic racism. The accompanying music video for the original song “Rockstar” was subsequently released. The track previously held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but has now been displaced by Nicki Minaj and 6ix9ine’s latest release, “Trollz,” causing “Rockstar” to slip to the second position.
The North Carolina rapper’s original version of “Rockstar” first reached Number One on the RS Top 100 Songs chart in late May, and it returned to the top place three weeks later. DaBaby’s album Blame It on Baby, which also debuted at No. 1 on the RS Top 200 Albums chart in April, is presently ranked No. 2 on the RS Artists 500.
