2023 MTV VMAs Performances Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat & More

Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J and more performed at MTV VMAs 2023.

The annual MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards) took place last night at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center. Nicki Minaj continued the hosting role for her second consecutive year at MTV VMAs 2023. “MTV is petrified because they got a couple calls yesterday and people were saying, ‘What if Nicki says this and what if Nicki says that?'” said Nicki Minaj. “And I said, you know it’s OK, MTV, I can control myself. Because if you can’t control yourself you can’t control anything around you, right? But you know who can’t control themselves? Roman. Red Ruby Da Sleeze, Chun-Li. So, I’ll think about it.”

This year, the ceremony was filled with so many rap performances, in celebration of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary. NLE Choppa performed his hit “Ain’t Gonna Answer”, before being joined by Nelly for a performance of “It’s Getting Hot”.

The duo of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion returned to the stage for a performance of their latest collab “Bongos“, a follow-up to their previous smash hit “WAP”. Ahead of her new album “Scarlet”, Doja Cat continued the promo run for a performance of her latest singles “Attention,” “Demons,” and her Billboard Hot 100 number 1 hit “Paint The Town Red“.

Nicki Minaj also continued the hype of her upcoming comeback album “Pink Friday 2” as she performed a smooth rendition of her latest single “Last Time I Saw You“.

Diddy also made his return to the stage ahead of his upcoming “The Love Album: Off the Grid“, as he performed songs like “I’ll Be Missing You,” “All About the Benjamins,” before being joined by Yung Miami for “Gotta Move On (Queens Remix),” and Keyshia Cole for “Last Night”.

Metro Boomin was also among the performers, as he brought out Future for their collab “Superhero”, followed by NAV, A Boogie wit da Hoodie & Swae Lee for “Calling”. Lil Wayne was also among the performers with his songs “Back That Azz Up”, “Uproar” and “Kat Food”.

The show also featured a Hip-Hop 50 anniversary tribute, with a medley performance from DMC, Doug E. Flesh, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J & Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
