Deriving her name from Bacardi, a rum brand that was formerly her nickname, Cardi B made her musical entrance on Jamaican reggae fusion musician Shaggy’s remix to his hit “Boom Boom”.

Invasion of Privacy, her debut solo album, landed at the top of the Billboard 200 chart in 2018 and was deemed the best female rap album of the decade by Billboard. With the release of the album, Cardi B became the first female rapper to have a diamond-certified single and became the only female rapper to receive the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album as a solo artist in the previous 15 years.

Time magazine included her in its annual survey of the world’s 100 most important individuals in 2020, and she will be the creative director of the magazine Playboy in 2022.
