2020 has been a rollercoaster thus far. COVID-19 slowed everyone down and affected the way they live. We were on the verge of not being able to put together this year’s Freshman Class because of it. A pandemic, on the other hand, would not be able to halt the process. Sure, the publication date is two months later than usual. That’s because we had to find out how to put everything together in the most efficient way possible.
This time, none of them are even remotely unknown, and they’ve all had hits. On the Billboard Hot 100, one of them, Jack Harlow, is presently at third. So this time around, there aren’t many unexpected additions. Some of these rappers are better than others, as usual, and some of the choices appear wittier than others.
This year’s event includes hip-hop from all over the world. NLE Choppa is from Memphis, and Polo G and Calboy are from Chicago. For New York, Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign hold it down. In Las Vegas, Baby Keem takes a break. Jack Harlow is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. Rod Wave is from St. Petersburg, Florida, at the bottom of the map. Chika in Montgomery, Alabama, is a fan of Down South, and Mulatto and Lil Keed are both hot on Atlanta’s streets. The Freshman 10th place winner was San Francisco rapper 24kGoldn, who received the most fan votes. Now soon we can expect the freestyles, cyphers, and interviews like every year.
People are already naming names they feel should have been bets for this year. The bulk of those complaining are listing names like 42 Dugg, iann dior, Lil Tecca, and others who have had a handful of successful songs and are asking where they are.
42 Dugg, Flo Milli, Morray, Pooh Shiesty, Lakeyah, Coi Leray, Toosii, Blxst, Rubi Rose, Iann Dior, and DDG in the last fan-voted spot are the 11 rappers on the list.
Dior is featured on 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks in a row last year. 24kGoldn was named to the Freshman Class of 2020 by fans, with future talents Polo G, Rod Wave, Latto, Lil Tjay, Jack Harlow, Chika, and others.
The XXL Freshman Class is a much-anticipated list of musicians who are projected to have major breakthroughs in the coming months or who have already had them by the time the list is published. Fans have used the list as a guideline for which musicians to follow since 2007, and it has aided the careers of rap superstars like as Lupe Fiasco (2007), Ace Hood and Wale (2009), Big Sean, J. Cole, and Nipsey Hussle (2010), and Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, and YG (2011). (2011).
