Eminem talks about his Top Rappers List, includes Kendrick Lamar, and more.
Eminem who released his new album ‘Music To Be Murdered By‘ last month, recently did a rare 1-hour long interview with KXNG Crooked where he talks about his new project and a lot of things including his list of favorite rappers. KXNG Crooked asked Eminem (at 46:00) If the top rappers that he named on ‘Till I Collapse‘ still the same. In ‘Till I Collapse‘ Eminem rapped about the list of rappers he placed before him which quoted as, “I got a list, here’s the order of my list that it’s in, It goes Reggie, Jay-Z, 2Pac and Biggie, André from OutKast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me.”

Eminem replies to KXNG Crooked and revealed that he would put three current rappers to the list. “Yes and no. Yes because what’s happened since then is like 20 years of (laughing) rapping,” says Eminem, “So it’s like, as rap evolves, you know like I said, you gotta put Cole and Kendrick on that list, and Joyner, because those are guys who really care about the craft, and it’s kind of like if you want to know why that sounds so good to you, and you’re not really sure, do you know what I’m saying? When we’re telling you that those people are so good at what they do, right, these rappers, when we’re telling you that, it’s coming from somewhere where we know what it takes to put that into the print.”
When asked about Young MA Eminem said, “Well, when she put out “OOOUUU,” I was like, “yo, she’s dope”. And I kind of started following her a little bit, and then I started watching every video she put out. And I was more so intrigued by her persona, how she just carries herself like a star, right? She’s just like, charisma, right? But she also had the bars, and I was like, “Man, she’s really got bars”. So then I just went down the wormhole of the “Eat” freestyle she did. And then she did “Flex”, and how she was just calm, murdering it on “Flex”, but she barely even raised her voice. Like, she was just calmly killing it, and I was like, “Oh my God”, so I just reached out. I was like, “Yo, I want to put on an album, man, I want to do something with her”. And hit her up, and I said, “I got this intro to the album, and then I want you to be the first thing that people hear after that”, you know what I’m saying?”
Sway Calloway of SiriusXM’s Shade 45 questioned Eminem during the week, ahead of the joint concert of NFL Superbowl, if he believed that Lamar was “the most electrifying vocalist of his generation.”
“I absolutely would agree with that,” Eminem replied. “Kendrick is at the very top, top tier of lyricists. Not just of his generation, but of all time.”
Tupac, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, and other artists are on Eminem’s list, which he revealed in an unexpected reaction to the tweet. “For me, in no particular order…” Eminem wrote. “Toss up between wayne, pac, royce, jay, redman, treach, g. rap, biggie & king crook….” He then added more names, tweeting: “Plus redman, LL, nas, joyner, kendrick, cole, andre, rakim, kane…”
