Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, DJ Khalid, and others performed during the 2017 BET Awards.
Like every year, the BET Awards 2017 also filled with so many great performances and surprises. French Montana and Swae Lee performed “Unforgettable“, the trio of Migos performs Medley with Post Malone, Trey Songz performs “Nobody Else But You” & “Animal“. Mary J. Blige performed her tracks “Set Me Free” & “Love Yourself” with ASAP Rocky, Chris Brown performs “Privacy” & “Party” with Gucci Mane.
Future surprised the crowd as he brought out Kendrick Lamar to perform “Mask Off” Remix and Big Sean Performed a Medley and also debuts a new verse at the show. Apart from them, there were many more great performances throughout the night.
Future performed his dazzling track “Mask Off” with his army of masked dancers on the heels of his Future HNDRXX Tour. Future stunned the crowd when he invited Kendrick Lamar to freestyle his remix verse on his home turf of California. Lamar surprised no one by delivering a ferocious verse.
They also covered the song during Kendrick’s headlining Coachella performance earlier this year. ”Mask Off” first debuted on Future’s self-titled album, which was the first of two albums he released this year. During the broadcast, Bruno Mars, Big Sean, Mary J. Blige, and A$AP Rocky all performed. Chance the Rapper and New Edition both received awards. With a special introduction from Michelle Obama, Chance won the BET Humanitarian Award, and New Edition got the BET Lifetime Achievement Award.
Best female R&B/pop artist (vying against sister Solange), best collaboration (with Kendrick Lamar on “Freedom”), album of the year, and video of the year are among Beyoncé’s seven nominations. Mars received a nomination for best male R&B/pop artist in addition to album and video of the year. Migos received nominations for best group and best collaboration for their duet with Lil Uzi Vert on “Bad and Bougee.” Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, Cardi B, Khalid, and Young M.A. are among the best new artist nominees, as are 21 Savage, Cardi B, Khalid, and Young M.A.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama recorded a statement honoring Chance the Rapper, who won the humanitarian award after contributing $1 million to Chicago public schools and raising even more.
But it wasn’t all roses for everyone. The best group award went to Migos, who had contentious exchanges with Joe Budden and Chris Brown at the end of the night. The first time was during an interview with DJ Akademiks and Budden, when the latter couldn’t hear rapper Takeoff’s response.
