Travis Scott earns another Billboard 200 top spot with UTOPIA.
The first week numbers for the latest album releases are here, and as projected, Travis Scott tops the US Charts with his new album “UTOPIA“. This was his fourth studio effort, and his first project since 2018’s “ASTROWORLD”.
According to HDD, Travis Scott Utopia debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 moving over 496,000 equivalent units in the first week, with 330.68 million on-demand streams and 252,000 pure sales. This is the biggest first-week number for a rap album in 2023, surpassing Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape. It marks his third consecutive #1 album on US Billboard 200. The rapper also earned the biggest vinyl sales week for a rap album in Nielsen history with 55k units sold.

Post Malone’s new album “Austin“ debuted at #2 with moving over 113,000 equivalent units in the first week. Malone’s last year’s album “Twelve Carat Toothache” also debuted at 2 on Billboard 200 with 121,000 sales in the first week.

Travis Scott also earned good numbers on Billboard Hot 100, as he earned two tracks in the top 5. The rapper’s Drake collab “Meltdown” debuts at #3 on charts, while Playboi Carti assisted “FE!N” debuts at #5. All songs from Utopia simultaneously chart on the Hot 100. With this, Drizzy extends his record as the artist with the most top 10 hits in Hot 100 history (69).

Utopia debuted with massive numbers on the streaming platform Spotify. According to Spotify, the project was the biggest opening day stream among hip-hop albums this year. The project earned 128.5 million Spotify streams on the first day. It was also the third overall biggest-ever opening day stream for a rap album on Spotify as the first two spots held by Drake with his albums “Certified Lover Boy” and “Scorpion”.
