Travis Scott & Kendrick Lamar's Goosebumps Is Now Eligible For Diamond Status

Goosebumps sold 10 million units in the US.

Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar achieve a major milestone as their 2016 collaboration “Goosebumps” has sold over 10 million copies in the US. The track is now eligible for RIAA Diamond Certification. The track is the most streamed song for both artists on Spotify. It is now Travis Scott’s second, and Kendrick Lamar’s first diamond record.

The song was released as the third single from Scott’s second studio album, “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight.” In 2017, the rapper also broke a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive performances of a song during a show after he performed “Goosebumps” 15 times in a row.

In an interview with Billboard, Travis Scott revealed how the collaboration came together. “I met him [Kendrick Lamar] at the MTV Video Music Awards one year and he came up to me and was just like, “Yo, man, I f**k with your music. It’s super dope and inspirational.” I was like, whoa, this is the best rapper in the globe – he f**ks with my music! That’s one of the things that made me want to keep working on my music and try to keep it going ’cause I’m not the most rappity rap a*s ni**a. That’s not me but I really love Kendrick’s music. I really love André [3000]’s music. I really love ‘Ye’s sh*t. I really love Jay’s sh*t. I like rappers. It’s just dope that these dudes came to La Flame’s world to get down on some ill beats.”

It’s Kendrick’s first diamond song, with ‘HUMBLE.’ and ‘Bad Blood.’ following closely behind at 7x and 6x platinum, respectively. It’s Travis’ second diamond single, following the achievement of ‘Sicko Mode’ in December 2020.

The song “Goosebumps” debuted at number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States for the week ending September 24, 2016. The song then re-entered the charts numerous times, eventually reaching number 32 and becoming his third top 40 success.The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded the song Gold status in January 2017 for sales of over 500,000 equivalent copies in the United States. Scott revealed on March 28, 2017, that the song has been certified Platinum.

Goosebumps was a featured song in Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, which opened at number one on the US Billboard 200, collecting 88,000 album-equivalent units, from which 53,000 were actual album sales. It was Scott’s first record to reach the top spot. The album was awarded platinum status for total sales and album-equivalent units exceeding one million in the US.
