The Weeknd earns another Guinness World Record.
The Weeknd is now the most popular artist in the world, which is named by Guinness World Records. The Canadian superstar received the accolade following his two Spotify achievements.
Last month, The Weeknd became the first ever artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on the music platform Spotify. The ‘After Hours’ hitmaker’s popularity continues to rise on the platform, as he currently has over 112 million monthly listeners on Spotify, which is the most by any artist.

The Weeknd currently has almost 30 million more monthly listeners than second-placed Miley Cyrus (82.4 million). The two are followed by Shakira (81.6 million), Ariana Grande (80.6 million), Taylor Swift (80.2 million), Rihanna (78.5 million), and his closest male challenger, Ed Sheeran (77.5 million).
In 2016, The Weeknd was awarded two Guinness World Records for his album “Beauty Behind the Madness” on Spotify, which had the most streams, and for his consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 solo male artist list. The album’s hit single “Can’t Feel My Face” was listened to by 60 million people within a year, earning The Weeknd his first Guinness World Record.
The Weeknd’s dominance on Spotify increased with the release of his recent collab with Ariana Grande’s “Die For You” remix, which went viral on TikTok. The duo now scored another #1 hit on Billboard Hot 100 with the release, and it is Weeknd & Ari’s seventh #1 song on the charts each.
