Rapper DMX passed away at 50.
Last week, the legendary DMX was hospitalized after suffering from a heart attack due to a drug overdose. DMX was since then on life support in the ICU, and now his family has announced that the 51-year-old rapper has passed away.
“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle, and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized,” reads the statement issued by his family.
Between 2010 and 2015, DMX made $2.3 million from his music. He was also a three-time bankrupt. On July 30, 2013, he made his first filing, claiming priority for his child support obligations. On November 11, 2013, the United States Trustee Program filed a challenge to the filing, which was dismissed by the United States Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan.
DMX, real name Earl Simmons began his rapping career in the early 1990s and released his debut album “It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot” in 1998, which received critical acclaim and commercial success. Not only a rapper, but Earl was also a great actor, as he worked in the films such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Last Hour.
The passing of DMX has shocked the fans as well as other musical artists, who send their condolences through social media.
