SZA officially announces her second album “S.O.S.”
It’s been 5 years since SZA dropped her debut album “Ctrl” which went on to become one of the R&B classics of the past decade. The fans have been eagerly waiting for the next project from the TDE star, and she has finally announced a title. SZA who recently released her single “Shirt“, caught up with Billboard for a new interview and cover issue and revealed that her next album is titled “S.O.S.” and reportedly dropping next month.
SZA has released songs on occasion, but solely as a guest on other artists’ tracks, from Justin Timberlake’s “The Other Side” to Kali Uchis’ “fue mejor” remix to the pop blockbuster “Kiss Me More” with Doja Cat, which won both artists their first Grammy award earlier this year and reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving it SZA’s highest-charting success to date.

“I feel like music, in this capacity, I don’t see longevity,” she told Billboard’s Heran Mamo. “I like to create, I like to write, I like to sing, and I like to share. But I don’t know if chasing after superstardom or whatever I’m supposed to be doing right now is sustainable for me or for anybody. I’ma take a good swing at it, and I’ma give ’em my absolute best.”
“I hate the red tape analytics of dropping anything—it’s so stressful,” she said. “I definitely have heard [the term ‘digital service provider’] more this week and last week than I have ever. I don’t like the way it sounds—it sounds stressful and like something that requires a lot of attention and maneuvering. I hate the word ‘single.’ It’s like, ‘What the f**k separates a single from other sh*t on my album that I like? Why does it have to be different?’”
