Royce Da 5'9 Calls Lil Xan Hip-Hop's First Male Karen

Royce da 5’9″ reacts after Lil Xan exposed his ex-manager Stat Quo.

Recently, a clip went viral on social media in which rapper Lil Xan made allegations on his ex-manager Stat Quo of providing him with drugs, in reference to Lil Peep death in 2017. “Do you guys remember the whole Lil Peep story when his management was giving him drugs and it just wasn’t helping out and all that?” he said. “That happened to me on tour. My manager, well I don’t even like to call him my manager anymore, Stat Quo, remember that name, Stat Quo. Because when I was on tour through 2018 to two thousand whatever, the world tours with Nicki [Minaj] and Juice [WRLD] and all that. I was a drug addict back then, right. And my manager was supplying me with the drugs.”

The situation is getting mixed reactions from fans and Royce Da 5’9” doesn’t like the way Lil Xan publicly name-dropped his ex-manager. “Ladies and Gentlemen I do believe we’ve just witnessed our first Male Karen moment in Hip Hop,” wrote Royce with a picture of Lil Xan. If you don’t know, Karen is a pejorative term for a white woman perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal, as defined by Wikipedia.

After the story went viral, Lil Xan took to his social media and addressed the whole thing. “So glad I could finally bring this story to light, and I putting 100% of the blame on him? no I was a drug addict how could I ! Am I telling you that he was doing nothing but speeding up my drug use by supplying my the very pills that could’ve killed me ? YES ! I’m making this public because I know in my heart this happens way to often and it’s how we end up losing some of the greatest artist way to young…These people must answer for there crimes,I remember days on tour my security would have to check on me to see if I was still breathing! But as long as I was medicated enough to get on stage and make that bag for me and the team everything was all good lol what a joke,” he wrote.

The hip-hop community is split on how to respond to Xan’s statements. Some are complimenting the rapper for speaking up about his addiction and making his former manager accountable, while others are labelling him a “snitch” and reminding him that he is solely responsible for his behaviour. Because of the wide range of reactions to Xan’s video, rap veteran Royce Da 5’9″ has dubbed Xan the first “male Karen” in hip-hop.
