Rick Ross speaks on the possibility of VERZUZ with 50 Cent.
Rick Ross recently released his brand new album “Richer Than I Ever Been“, and he has been on a promo run for it. The MMG boss recently became the cover star for GQ magazine and also sat down with Frazier Tharpe for an interview. Ricky Rozay who last year had a VERZUZ battle with 2 Chainz, was asked about doing another one, with his arch-nemesis 50 Cent.
“How did you like doing Verzuz [with 2 Chainz]?,” asked Frazier. “That sh*t was cool. I saved a bunch of records for Verzuz Two,” responds Ross. He was then asked about a VERZUZ showdown with 50 Cent, which he thinks would be “light” work for him. “The one with 2 Chainz was good vibes, though. Would you ever do one that was a little charged up, a little more contentious and competitive like Dipset and LOX? Like… would you do one with 50 Cent?,” asked Frazier.
“You got to ask yourself would he come and do a Verzuz with Rozay,” said Ross. “I mean, you got to ask yourself honestly, would he come and stand next to Rozay in the arena or wherever it would be? That’s really your question. I don’t even think it’s a question of if I would do it. That sh*t light.”
“50 would be light work? It’s 20 songs…,” says the interviewer. “Come on, now. I helped the views on his shows. On TV, he didn’t do nothing, man,” responds Rozay.
Rick Ross was then asked if he watched 50 Cent’s latest hit show “BMF”, to which he pokes Fifty with a backhand compliment. “Man, I saw the first [episode],” he said. “I was just trying to support the homie Meech [the incarcerated head of Black Mafia Family whose rise the 50 Cent-produced show chronicles], the ni***s in the street. I’m a real ni**a. I could put [my issues with 50] to the side. I know he may have made a quarter million off the whole season. I’m happy he made that quarter. [Frazier laughed at the backhanded compliment] You know that’s what he made. Why you laughing like that? And make sure you put all these details in. I’ll never let you interview me again if you take that out. Keep it. But, look I know he made 250k off the whole season, and that’s good. Tell him I said, “Congratulations.”
Rick Ross isn’t the only hip-hop artist to speculate about a fight with 50 Cent at a Verzuz. T.I. and Ja Rule have both been named as potential rivals for the executive producer of the Starz network’s Power franchise and BMF series. Meanwhile, Rick Ross is working hard to promote his Richer Than I Ever Been CD. Benny The Butcher, Wale, Future, DreamDoll, Blxst, Jazmine Sullivan, 21 Savage, Wiz Khalifa, and others appear on the project. Richer Than I’ve Ever Been is the sequel to 2019’s Port of Miami 2.
