Eminem’s “Revival” turns 3.
On this day 3 years ago, Eminem released his 10th studio album “Revival“. The album debuted at the number in the US, UK, Australia, and more. The album has sold over 3 million units worldwide and it recently certified Platinum in the US. The album received polarized reviews from music critics as many were divided over its perceived lack of focus, heavy sampling of rock production, a lot of guest appearances from Pop artists, and more.
Revival is Eminem’s eighth straight number one album on the Billboard 200, with 197,000 copies sold out of 267,000 album-equivalent units sold. As a consequence, Eminem became the first musical act to debut at the top of the charts eight times in a row. Revival was replaced at number one the following week by Taylor Swift’s Reputation.
Revival debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with 132,000 album-equivalent sales, second only to Ed Sheeran’s, and earning the rapper his eighth straight number one album. It sold 321,000 album-equivalent copies in the UK as of October 2018.
The album is the Detroit rapper’s most misunderstood project.
