Along with the performance, Minaj was also honoured with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The award was previously given to Madonna, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, and Missy Elliott.

During her speech, She thanked other musicians for helping her become a better artist and for working with her. The list includes Jay-Z, Foxy Brown, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Beyonce, Kanye West, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Madonna and more.

“I wish Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson were here,” she shared. “I wish people understood what they meant and were going through. I wish people took mental health seriously.”

Nicki also grabbed the stage to speak about the legendary achievement—as well as another milestone she decided to celebrate: motherhood. “You guys are my babies, but I have a new baby,” Nicki said while on stage. “I have a new baby.
