Math Hoffa talks about Benzino reaching out to him for dissing Eminem.
Back in the days, When Benzino going back and forth with Eminem, he was creating a project full of diss tracks for the Detroit legend. Benzino reached out to many artists to appear on the tape, including Math Hoffa. In the latest episode Expert Opinion, Benzino detailed the whole story of Benzino making an Eminem diss mixtape, and reached out to him for help.
“Years ago, when I was still youngster,” said Math Hoffa. “Benzino called me up to be a part of that mixtape dissing Eminem. I said yes because I thought this was the way to skip the shiny suits. This is pre-DMX. DMX came through and saved us from the shiny suits. Once I got the opportunity, I was like ‘yo I could skip that’ and everybody will know who I am.”
He continues, “I got in the studio. I thought he was going to fall back and let me handle it. He had a response ‘Die Another Day.’ After that, he played Huddy’s response. After that, he played LO’s response. Then after that, he was like ‘yo I got these Spanish guys, they are dissing Eminem in Spanish.’ I think their name was Uno Dos or something like that. At that point, I was like ‘bro what you doing?!’ He was like ‘yo, I’m making a whole mixtape and I’m going to drop it with the Source.’ And I was like ‘Naah, this ain’t it’ cause in my mind I am like ‘Em is better than you man’ [Laughs]. Benzino had his ways and I was not feeling it.”
Math has repeated this tale several times, including in a chat with KXNG Crooked, who was in a similar scenario. Crook was not only solicited, but also pressed, to support Ja Rule in his spat with Eminem, but the West Coast spitter refused: “I was like, “Nah, that’s not my beef. I just got over here, you know. I’m trying to make great music. I’m trying to bring that back to the W. That’s my focus, Yo, Dre is the greatest producer ever. Sounds like Em got bars and all that.”
