Lil Wayne Recounts Being Encouraged To Have A Child At 14 By His Mom During Global Impact Award Speech.
Lil Wayne recently shared a story about his mom’s encouragement for him to become a father at the young age of 14. He made these remarks while accepting Dr. Dre’s Global Impact Award from the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective. In his acceptance speech, he reflected on the early stages of his career and how his life changed when he became a famous rapper. He stated that at 14, he entered his mother’s room and she asked him to have a child because his father had passed away. She believed that he would be a great father as his career was just taking off and he was about to embark on his first tour.

“I walked into my mama’s room when I was 14,” tearfully remembered Weezy in the video below. “She asked me for a kid because my dad was killed. And her son had just blew up and went on his first tour, and we did not know that bi**h was going to be six months. When I came home she said, ‘Son, I can’t live in this house by myself. We’re going to have to figure something out.'”
