Kanye West's "Heartless" Becomes His Third RIAA Certified Diamond Song

Kanye West’s “Heartless” is now eligible for diamond status.

Kanye West continues earning more diamond certifications with his classics as his 2008 track “Heartless” sold 10 million copies in the US. The song is now eligible for RIAA Diamond certification, and it is his third track to do so.

The rapper who didn’t have a diamond certification until last year, earned three in over a year. This follows up his previous diamond songs “Stronger” and “Ni**as In Paris” with JAY-Z.

Heartless appeared on Ye’s fourth studio album “808s & Heartbreak” in 2008, and became and instant fan favorite. The song was written by West, No I.D., Kid Cudi and Malik Yusef, and was produced by the former two. The track reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, and attained top 10 positions in Canada, New Zealand, and the UK.

In an old interview, produced No I.D. revealed that Heartless almost appeared on JAY-Z’s Blueprint 3 album. “The 808 records came out of doing The Blueprint 3 records,” No I.D. said on the Juan Epstein show. “Matter of fact, when we did ‘Heartless,’ he just stopped and said, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘No what?’ He was like, ‘No way. This is my record.’ I was like, ‘Come on man, can we just finish the guy’s album man?’ He was like, ‘Nope. I’m doing an album.’”

“Jay Z is like, ‘What just happened? Where are my… what happened?” added No I.D. “I tell Jay, ‘Yo, man it’s gonna be hard to finish this man. You probably need to come to Hawaii. Just come out there. Please come out there.’”
