Sway Had The Answers, says Kanye West about Yeezy.
Back in 2013, Kanye West made an appearance on Shade 45 for an interview, which turned out to become one of the viral moments as Ye argued with the host Sway over his Yeezy brand.
During the interview, Kanye West asked for support from big companies like Walk Disney, Nike, Google and others to “Stand up and let me create more,” as he called himself the “number one most impactful artist of our generation.” Sway responded with a suggestion and told West to “empower yourself and do it yourself,” to which the rapper started arguing with “You ain’t got the answers, Sway.”
The clip often surfaces on social media, and now it was mentioned in Ye’s latest interview with ABC News. Amid the recent termination of Yeezy’s deal with GAP, Kanye West now plans to sell his Yeezy products directly to consumers. “So Sway, almost 10 years ago, said man why don’t you do it on your own,” says the journalist Linsey Davis. “I will go ahead and say, Sway had the answer,” Ye admitted. “People are gonna be like, ‘No’.”
Ye published a draft agreement in a now-deleted Instagram post that stated he was not allowed to utilise, promote, or advertise his Yeezy brand. He said in the caption, “Welp, I suppose the conflict is still going on. “Neither Yeezy nor Ye may use, wear, sponsor, promote, market, advertise, endorse, design, manufacture, licence, sell, or provide consulting services with respect to any of the following products under the Yeezy Trademarks or Ye’s likeness or any other identifiable attribute, feature, or indica of Ye,” the screenshot reads in part.
