Kanye West’s name is officially changed to Ye.
During the rollout of his new album “DONDA“, Kanye West filed a name change request in Los Angeles Superior Court, which is now officially approved. Kanye West wanted to change his name to the Ye, which has been his nickname for years, and he also dropped an album by the same title in 2018.
According to reports, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams has given the nod to Kanye West’s request which was filed on August 24, citing the change for personal reasons.
In an interview with Big Boy in 2018, Kanye Said said, “Ye,’ I believe, is the most often used word in the Bible, and it means ‘you.’ So, I’m you, I’m us, and we’re here. It evolved from Kanye, which means “only one,” to just Ye, which is a reflection of our good, bad, confused, and everything. The record is a representation of who we are as a group.”
Why did Kanye West change his name? Explaining the change in a radio interview that year, the then-West had said: “I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us.” He said his name “went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye – just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything.” Ye was the title of the studio album he released that year.
In the same year, the GOOD Music boss also tweeted, “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”
