JAY-Z creates history with most Grammy nominations.
Earlier today, Recording Academy announced the nominations for their 64th annual Grammy Awards event. While Doja Cat earned the most nominations (8 noms) as a rapper this year, the legendary JAY-Z creates history as he surpassed producer/composer Quincy Jones to become an artist with the most Grammy nominations. Hov was previously tied with Quincy Jones at 80 noms, and the three latest nominations made him the sole leader with 83.
This year, JAY-Z earned nominations for his contributions to the Late DMX’s single “Bath Salts” alongside Nas, as well as assisting Kanye West’s “Jail” off his album “DONDA”. Kanye West’s latest project “DONDA” is also up for the album of the year and Rap album of the year. Ye currently has 22 Grammy wins, out of 75 total nominations. Last year, the GOOD Music boss disrespected the Grammy as he posted a clip of him peeing on one of his trophies.

Jay-Z last released a studio album was in 2017 when he dropped the “4:44” project. Recently, Jay-Z contributed to “The Harder They Fall” soundtrack with two songs. He teamed up with Jadakiss and Conway The Machine for “King Kong Riddim“, and Kid Cudi for “Guns Go Bang“.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month, and one among the accolades he got that night was a filmed video greeting from former President Barack Obama. Dave Chappelle, who delivered an in-person address during the Cleveland event, also recognised him.
But Jay-Z isn’t the only member of his family who has made Grammy history. In March, Beyoncé broke the record for the most Grammy awards by a female artist in history. That same month, their oldest child, Blue Ivy, 9, became the second-youngest person ever to win a Grammy for her contribution to the song “Brown Skin Girl.”
