Ja Rule says 50 Cent doesn’t want Verzuz smoke with him.
Ja Rule recently sat down with HipHopDx for a new interview where he talks about the highly requested Verzuz battle against his arch-rival 50 Cent. The former Murder Inc. rapper says that it would only take a “phone call” for him to feature in a battle, but it ain’t gonna happen because 50 Cent doesn’t want that smoke.
“Listen, man,” says Ja. “Everybody don’t want the smoke. Everybody don’t want this smoke. I got heat. Let me tell you something when I do my shows, I can rock. I’m telling you, it’s like an hour of straight hit records. No filler. All crab meat, ni**a. This ain’t the joints with the, you know what I’m saying? All meat in that muthaf**king crab cake, ni**a. It’s all meat, ni**a.”
The feud between 50 Cent and Ja Rule has been one of the longest in Hip-Hop history. The feud began in 1999 and has continued to this day, with no signs of letting down. The beef grew after a series of diss recordings, including 50’s “Life’s on the Line” tune and 50 getting stabbed at a recording studio by one of Murder Inc.’s associates. Irv Gotti, CEO and creator of Murder Inc. Records, commented on VERZUZ’s Instagram Live, ” “All y’all talking that 50 shit. All good. He got beat up stabbed up. Shot up. Sued us. That’s all I’m gonna say. Your hero ain’t what you think he is. Period. And facts.”
Ja Rule considered other possible opponents, such as Fat Joe and Nelly. Rule wants it to be a celebration rather than a heavyweight fight if he fights Verzuz. “Listen, man, I love Verzuz, I love what it is, I love to see artists getting in there and doing the s—, but if I did one, if I did do a Verzuz, I would want my Verzuz to be fun,” Ja Rule told HipHopDX. “That’s what Verzuz is supposed to be about — the celebration of music and the art and the artistry. So, I would want my Verzuz to be fun and filled with love in the room and s—, and that sort of thing. I’m too old to be in Verzuz beef.”
Two of their greatest hits were collaborated in 2001 by Rule and Lopez. On the record J. Lo and on the Rule’s album Pain Is Love a remixed version of “I’m Real” were featured. Five weeks later, however, the re-mixed version featuring Rule topped the Billboard Hot 100. The Hot 100 Airplay chart was also overlaid.
