J. Cole equals Hot 100 record with Drake and more.
“The Off Season” continues to reach new heights as J. Cole broke another Billboard record. The latest album from the Dreamville boss recently debuted at #1 on Billboard 200, making him the first-ever rapper to have his first 6 studio albums to debut at number 1. Now four tracks from Cole’s new album debuts in the Hot 100’s top 10 simultaneously.
He equals the record of Lil Wayne, Drake, and the late Juice WRLD, as the only artists in Hot 100 history to do so. Recently, The Off-Season also became the most streamed [62M] project in a day on Spotify, the platform’s streaming record for 2021.
With 62 million listens, The Off-Season surpassed Spotify’s prior 2021 record for a single day of listening. With 282,000 album-equivalent units sold in the United States (including 37,000 copies from pure album sales in its first week), the album debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200. This became Cole’s sixth album to debut at number one in the US.
