Fans argue over Eminem vs Jay-Z Verzuz battle.
The talks of the VERZUZ battle is at their peak after Jay-Z claimed that no one stands a chance to go against him on that stage. “No one can stand on that stage with me. It’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me,” he said. “You gotta stand in front of the Grammy Family Freestyle live?”

JAY-Z came onto Alicia Keys’ Twitter Spaces room on Tuesday night to talk about the music industry, telling the hundreds in the crowd that he feels nobody can stand beside him on that platform. Since he made the statements, hip-hop fans have speculated on who would be the greatest opponent for the iconic New York rapper, mentioning musicians such as Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and others.
JAY-Z later claimed on Twitter that Beyoncé had achieved Michael Jackson-level performance with her infamous Coachella appearance. “Bey’s gonna be mad at this for saying this but Michael Jackson never had a Coachella, she’s an evolution of him because she watched him at (age) nine. Beyonce is gonna be one of the best singers we ever heard because she is such a student.”
While many fans and artists back Hov’s statement about a potential Verzuz battle, others brings up names like Lil Wayne, Kanye West as worthy opponent for Shawn Carter. Lil Jon also chimed in the conversation and said that Busta Rhymes would “Smoke” Jay-Z in a Verzuz showdown. While Benny the Butcher says no one has songs to go against Jay. “Hov really would bury ni**as in a verzus battle. No living rapper have songs that capture the mood and impact as Jay. He my favorite rapper so I’m biased lol,” he wrote.
In between all the mentions, Eminem’s name also started to trend, as many bring him up in the conversation to be strong opposition for “The Blueprint” rapper. “I’ve seen some bogus names listed as ppl that can beat Jay-Z in a VERZUZ..Dude just said Eminem,” a fan wrote. “Not a bad take, he’s beating 99% of rappers in a hit battle,” a user respond while posting a list of 20 Eminem hits. The list includes classics like “Lose Yourself”, “The Way I Am”, “Stan”, “No Love”, “Kill You”, and more including the Jay-Z collab “Renegade”.
“I already said Jay should go against Em cause both of them have super specific fanbases… you either like them or you dont. I like Jay but I aint playing any 20 of his songs,” a fan wrote. “Shady can rap but let’s not get ahead of ourselves he can’t compete with any emcee from the 90s,” said another fan. Many fans also brings up the popular opinion that Eminem outshined Jay-Z on his own song “Renegade”.
In 2023, Billboard and Vibe released a list of 50 best rappers of all time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, where they ranked Hov on number 1, and Eminem at number fifth. “I mean, for me, I would say I’d agree ’cause he made the biggest impact on my career,” Tony Yayo said about Eminem’s impact bigger than JAY-Z. “For me, I look at Eminem — I mean, any artist that sells 16 million records, that’s number one.”
He continued, “But I can see why people put JAY-Z number one ’cause, you know, this guy rhymed with Biggie Smalls, he rhymed with Biggie back and forth, ‘Hard Knock Life,’ filled out arenas. Can’t take no accolades from JAY-Z or Eminem.”
“But I don’t know. When you look at these lists, to me, it’s hard to really figure out who’s number one, who’s this, who’s that. But as long as you’re on the list, I guess it’s all good,” he added.
Eminem is the most recent name to be mentioned in discussions regarding a possible Verzuz vs. JAY-Z match. Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes have also been mentioned.

anyone who immediately uses ‘My Name Is’ as a blanket generalisation of Em’s catalogue automatically exposes themselves as lacking the knowledge of any of his actual hits to even debate his discography. Educate yourself before you embarrass yourself.

Is verzuz just based on radio hits or actual songs…..because Eminem has a great catalog and could definitely line up with Hov. The whole Verzuz thing is corny imo. It should be with unreleased tracks so that it’d be a surprise for the opponent and the audience….

If you can’t play 20 Hov records you’re not hip hop

Listen Empd 2 with Nas, yah yah, caterpillar, and marsh. Those songs specifically then come back to me. Cause I’m tired of acting like people em only made songs pre 2013.

My guy’s first real record was from ’99. I get it’s at the end of the decade but he was rapping well before that and don’t forget his roots are in battle rap.

With your record sales logic..then MC Hammer is bodying everyone. Also the color of his skin had a major impact on his sales, let’s be fully aware of how this particular world works.

people that are laughing about Eminem getting in a verzuz battle with Jay Z are right tbh, all Eminem has to do is play Renegade and it’s over

The only thing Jay Z has over Eminem is money and Grammy awards.
In terms of skill and hits, Em over JayZ.

Jay Z doesn’t survive hth with Eminem, Drake or Wayne btw, doubt he would even beat Nicki Minaj.
