Eminem Again Takes Shots At Machine Gun Kelly In His New Verse

Eminem reminds us how he ended Machine Gun Kelly’s career.

Dr. Dre makes his grand return to the music scene with multiple new tracks for the GTA Online: The Contract Soundtrack. Dr. Dre dropped collaborations with Nipsey Hussle, Ty Dolla Sign, Eminem, Rick Ross, Anderson .Paak, Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg. On the song “Gospel” with his longtime collaborator and friend Eminem, Dr. Dre called his ex-wife Nicole Young a “gold digger” after their recent divorce settlement.

In his verse, Eminem also spit crazy bars and references beef with Machine Gun Kelly beef. “Like clothes in between the two roll is a weight / Know, what I’m in is flow, interwoven, I treat ’em like thread / That’s how I wound up sewin’ machine up,” Eminem raps.

DJ Pooh’s West Coast Classics will also have a special “Dre Day” performance, with friends and colleagues even dialling in to talk about the recently confirmed Super Bowl halftime act. According to a press release, the collection will include “essential Dr. Dre cuts like ‘The Next Episode,’ as well as his work with superstars like 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Blackstreet, Ice Cube, Nas, and Jay-Z.”

In the line above Eminem starts a sewing wordplay theme with “puttin’ these h*es through the ringer”, which is followed by him telling us his flow is complex yet very regular, like interwoven fabric. He then says he treats them (rappers) like thread. Which could also mean he uses them in his fabric (flow) when he namedrops them, after this line he proves his own point with “that’s how I wound up sewin’ machine up” where he keeps the wordplay going while also reminding us how he sewed Machine Gun Kelly’s mouth up, making it a double entendre.

When Eminem debuted his new album, Music to Be Murdered By, in 2020, he couldn’t help but compare himself to God and mention MGK in his song “Unaccommodating.” He rapped, saying:
I won’t topple, I’m giving it to anyone who wanna come and get it and I’m not gonna stop
But when they ask me is the war finished with MGK? Of course it is
I cleansed him of his mortal sins, I’m God and the Lord forgives even the devil worshippers
I’m moving on but you know your scruples are gone when you’re born with Lucifer’s horns

Marshall Mathers appears to have reference to his dispute with Kelly twice on the new album. He rapped on ‘Zeus.’ Fair weather, wishy-washy/ She thinks Machine washed me/ Swear to God, man, her favourite rapper wish he’d crossed me,” while on ‘Gnat’ he added: “They come at me with machine guns/ Like trying to fight off a gnat.”
