Eminem is one of this year’s Hall of Fame inductees.
Last year with his surprise “Rock The Bells” performance with LL Cool J and Nominated for the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Rap God Eminem is being inducted in his first year of eligibility.
A Tribe Called Quest and Other Legendary Artists were all nominated this year, but will not be inducted this year. It was the first year that Eminem was nominated and enrolled himself in the class of 2022.
Em will be inducted with Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, and Carly Simon in the performer category, according to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website. Meanwhile, Judas Priest and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis will get the Musical Excellence Award.
“This diverse group of inductees each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock & roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “Their music moved generations and influenced so many artists that followed.”
Eminem scored second overall with 685,000 votes when the fan voting for the class of 2022 concluded earlier this month, while English new wave band Duran Duran rated first with 934,880 votes. Beck, A Tribe Called Quest, Rage Against the Machine, Dionne Warwick, Kate Bush, and Devo are among the acts who were nominated but will not be honored.
Eminem, Parton, Richie, and Simon were nominated for the first time that year. This will not be Eminem’s first appearance at a Rock Hall ceremony. He sang “Rock the Bells” with LL Cool J during the 2021 induction ceremony last year. In 2009, he delivered the induction speech for Run-D.M.C. into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022 induction ceremony will take place on Nov. 5 at the Microsoft Theater in L.A.
