Eminem, Big Sean & Rihanna help Detroit through charity.
The biggest personalities in music donate money to COVID-19 relief efforts and motivate others to do the same to support local communities affected by the pandemic. Eminem, Big Sean, and Rihanna are among the biggest names in music, and they’re helping Michigan and Detroiters combat the COVID-19 pandemic. A few days ago, Eminem appeared on Young Money Radio for an interview with Lil Wayne where he revealed that he’s donating $250k to Detroit through his Marshall Mathers Foundation to help fight COVID-19. “I’ve got a few areas I want to take care of in Detroit,” said Eminem.
After the donation from Eminem, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also decided to donate an additional $720k to the Marshall Mathers Foundation to make a total of $1 million. He said, “I heard Eminem donating $250k so I want to contribute even more to Detroit so Eminem can help as many people as possible.”
The joint effort from Em & Jack followed a donation of $3.2 million from a consortium of charities, including Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation and Big Sean’s Sean Anderson Foundation, to help the community-based organizations in Detroit and Flint.
The money raised will go toward access to food and water access, rental assistance, bail relief, the homeless, foster children, immigrants, refugees, and domestic violence survivors.
The people of Detroit have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, as the city recorded 9,810 confirmed cases and more than 1,180 deaths.
According to “The Detroit News,” Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued a statement thanking artists who stepped forward to support Michigan’s needy population: “This generous gift will give these essential nonprofits much-needed resources to help address the needs of those impacted most by COVID-19”.
