Eminem Sets New World Record With his platinum albums, become the first rapper to do so.
Fresh off from another milestone of MTBMB album which is now eligible for Platinum in around 10 months, Now the Eminem has listed himself as the first and only rapper to go Platinum in 4 Different decades, His decades includes 90’s, the 00’s, and the10’s and Now with MTBMB released in the ’20s.
Eminem has set a new milestone for the most gold and platinum singles certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The announcement was delivered last week by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) (March 8).
After receiving 73.5 million additional units, Eminem currently has 166 million single certifications and 61.5 million album certifications. The new certifications placed the Detroit rapper ahead of Drake (163.5 million), who previously held the record, and Rihanna (151.5 million).
Eminem became the first artist since Michael Jackson to have four platinum albums in four decades, the first artist to have ten #1 albums, the first artist to have ten albums hit one billion streams, and the first rapper to have four videos hit one billion views on YouTube all in the same year.
With approximately 32.2 million album sales in the United States over the decade, Eminem is the best-selling hip hop artist of all time and the best-selling artist of the 2000s. He is one of the best-selling music artists in the world, with over 220 million albums sold globally. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Eminem has sold 154 million certified albums and singles in the United States. He has 50 platinum record certifications and ten number one albums in his own nation.
Apart from reaching Platinum status, “The Marshall Mathers L”P and “The Eminem Show”, Eminem’s third studio album, received Grammy Awards, making him the first artist to win Best Rap Album three times in a row. In 2010, he received the Grammy again for his album Relapse, giving him a total of 15 Grammys in his career. In 2003, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for “Lose Yourself,” a song from the film 8 Mile, in which he also starred. “Lose Yourself” went on to become hip hop’s longest-running No. 1 single.
In his entire career, the Detroit Rapper has released 11 solo studio albums, including the most recently “Revival“, “Kamikaze” and “Music To Be Murdered By“. The 15 times Grammy Award winner, was also Billboard’s “Artist of the Decade” from 2000-2009. He has been included and ranked in several publications’ lists, including Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Artist of all Time.”
It is to be noted that Eminem started his career in the 90s when streaming service didn’t exist and Cassette & CDs were the formats then.
According to the RIAA, Eminem’s career total of RIAA Awards is currently 227.5 million, with 166 million single certifications and 61.5 million album certifications. Eminem is one of just seven musicians to have won three or more Diamond Album Awards, regardless of genre or era. He has three RIAA Diamond awards for albums and three RIAA Diamond awards for singles.
Eminem was also nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar for his song “Lose Yourself,” which was included in the 2002 film 8 Mile, in which he also acted. It was the first time a hip-hop song has won an Academy Award. The song was certified 13 times platinum by the RIAA today, tying it with his “Love the Way You Lie” (with Rihanna) for most platinum singles of all time, followed by 2010’s “Not Afraid” (11 million).
Last month, Eminem performed alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar during the historic Super Bowl Halftime Show.
He’s also one of just seven musicians to have three or more diamond-certified albums, which are awarded to acts that sell more than 10 million units in the United States. Garth Brooks has nine diamond albums, The Beatles have six, Led Zeppelin have five, and The Eagles, Shania Twain, and Whitney Houston each have three.
