Ed Sheeran shares “Stan” performance with Eminem.
Earlier this week, Eminem made a surprise appearance as he was brought out by Ed Sheeran at his concert in Detroit. At the sold-out Ford Field stadium, the hometown hero performed two tracks, his two classics “Lose Yourself” and “Stan” with assistance from Ed Sheeran.
Sheeran has been an Eminem fan since his childhood, and the UK singer pens a heartfelt letter to the Detroit rapper with a few clips on his social media. “I remember spraying my hair yellow and rapping @eminem in the school talent show when I was 11, insane to be able to bring him out at my show in Detroit,” he said. “Really a moment I will never forget, a real career and life highlight. Loved being in Detroit again, the subtract show was magical, and the Ford Field show was honestly the loudest I have ever heard a crowd in my life. Motor city baby, you are the greatest ! See ya in Nashville, my unofficial second hometown x.”
“We are about to go on stage in Detroit. I performed with Eminem few times but never brought him out on one of mine. This is the real childest dream stuff come true,” he said in the clip.

Last year, Ed Sheeran assisted Eminem in “Stan” which was performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022, where the Detroit rapper was honoured with his first induction.
In a previous interview, Ed Sheeran revealed a trait that he shared with the Detroit rapper, which made them good friends. “I collect cassettes and I’ve got Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder and they are quite difficult to find,” said Sheeran. “The only person I know who collects the same is Eminem. He collects cassettes, that’s his thing. He loves collecting. He is avid at going to find them. We have started having this, it is like a very cool pen-pal thing.”
Ed Sheeran continues, “I got a message the other day about an LL COOL J cassette. He said, ‘This is the cassette which made me want to start rapping.’ I sent him Van Morrison and I will send him David Gray’s White Ladder next.”
