Drake Pays Tribute To Sidhu Moose Wala At October World Weekend Concert

Drake wore a Sidhu Moosewala shirt during his opening performance in Toronto.

The event, which Drake is headlining, began with the hoisting of the Canadian flag. Drake then began his performance at HISTORY, the cutting-edge Toronto venue where he and Live Nation Canada debuted last November.

As Honestly Nevermind performed it was noteworthy the shirt he was wearing. Drake wore a Sidhu Moosewala shirt paying tribute to the Indian artist who was shot dead in Punjab.

Drake has been vocal in paying his respects to Sidhu Moosewala and has recognized Moosewala’s contribution to music.

During the debut episode of his radio show “Table for One,” Drake, who just dropped his album “Honestly, Nevermind,” paid homage to the deceased Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala by playing songs from the latter’s popular albums. On the broadcast, Drake played the top hits “295” and “G-Sh*t” by Moosewala. Recently, “295” rose to the third position on YouTube’s Global Music Video list and debuted on the Billboard Global 200 chart.

Sidhu Moose Wala was followed by Drake on Instagram, who posted a photo of the rapper with the message “RIP Moose” on the platform.

Earlier this week Hotline Bling rapper revealed the roster for the All Canadian North Stars event, which will take place on Thursday and serve as the opening act for his yearly long weekend music festival. “paved the way for all of us.”

Legendary Canuck hip-hop artists like Kardinal Offishall, Saukrates, k-os, Choclair, and Maestro Fresh Wes will perform, as will R&B greats like Glenn Lewis, Jully Black, and In Essence.

Drake’s annual OVO Fest, which has been postponed since 2019 due to the COVID-19 epidemic, returns with the October World Weekend: Road to OVO Fest Tour, marking its tenth iteration.

Friday, July 29, sees the continuation of the weekend at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage (formerly known as the Molson Amphitheatre), where Chris Brown and Lil Baby will perform as part of their North American One of Them Ones Tour.

Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj will join Drake for a widely awaited Young Money reunion on the final and third night of the festival on Monday, August 1. Drake will perform on the Budweiser Stage stage. 2014’s Hot 97 Summer Jam in New York City was the trio’s most recent performance onstage.
