“Wait For U,” by Future, Drake, and Tems, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Future’s “Wait For U,” which features Drake and Tems, has topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The song marks Future’s second Hot 100 number one – and his first in a lead role. It’s Drake’s tenth No. 1 and Tems’ first.
“Wait For U” is from Future’s new album I Never Liked You, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums list. The song joins three others from the album that have debuted in the top ten of the Hot 100: “Puffin on Zootiez,” at No. 4, “712PM,” at No. 8, and “I’m Dat N***a,” at No. 10.
Drake collects his milestone 10th Hot 100 No. 1, and first since “Way 2 Sexy.” He first led as featured on Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?,” for a week in November 2010, and first ruled as a lead artist with “One Dance,” featuring Wizkid and Kyla, for 10 frames beginning in March 2016.
Drake joins Rihanna as the 10th performer in Hot 100 history with at least 10 No. 1s (an elite club that was recently admitted on April 30, 2011 with Rihanna’s 10th leader, “S&M,” starring Britney Spears). Drake joins Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder as the only solo males to achieve the feat.
“Wait For U” is also Drake’s 55th Hot 100 top 10, 146th top 40 hit, and 261st total entry on the chart, all of which are new highs for him.
The songs “I’m On One,” from I Never Liked You, which also includes Drake, and “Keep It Burning,” with Ye, debuted at Nos. 11 and 15, respectively. Through his participation on Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy,” which also featured Young Thug, Future scored his first No. 1 single last year.
Meanwhile, Drake holds the record for the most No. 1 debuts on the Hot 100, with his sixth single “Wait for U.” He has five more than BTS and Ariana Grande.
