IFPI reveals the Top 10 Global Artists of 2020. BTS tops the list.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide has revealed the list of Top Artists of 2020. The K-Pop band BTS has topped the list of IFPI global recording artists of 2020, the annual achievement that recognizes artists worldwide popularity across streaming, sales, vinyl, and more.
The second on the list is Taylor Swift, followed by Toronto Rap star Drake, who released his new project ‘Scary Hours 2‘ earlier tonight. The Detroit rapper Eminem, who released two projects last year, in form of ‘Music To Be Murdered By‘ and a deluxe version for it, is ranked 6th on the list. Eminem is the only 90’s artist on the list.
The award from the international trade body for the recording industry comes after BTS had a hugely successful year, with their “Map Of The Soul: 7” album reaching number one in more than 20 countries, including the Official UK Albums Chart. Dynamite, the group’s first entirely English-language single, topped the charts in the United States and became their greatest UK success to date at Number 3, as well as breaking YouTube and Spotify records. BTS ended the year with the release of BE (Deluxe Edition), a reaction to the global epidemic that charted at No. 1 in over ten countries and No. 2 in the United Kingdom.
