Drake shouts out Kendrick Lamar and more on the 10th anniversary of “Take Care”.
It’s been 10 years since Drake dropped his second studio album “Take Care” and the rapper celebrate it through his social media. Drizzy posted a series of throwback pictures, which includes studio sessions clicks, magazine covers, album tracklist written on a notepad, tour pictures and more. He also posted a picture of the Club Paradise tour t-shirt, which features him along with J. Cole, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka Flame and French Montana.
“Is the feeling mutual? Take Care 10 Years Later,” wrote Drake. The “Certified Lover Boy” rapper also showed love to Kendrick Lamar, who was a special guest on his Club Paradise tour along with ASAP Rocky. He posted an old throwback picture with Kendrick Lamar on his Insta stories. Kendrick Lamar assisted Drake on “B***d Alive Interlude” on the project.
The album is considered to be the best from the Toronto rapper. The project features guest appearances from The Weeknd, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Andre 3000, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and more. The production was handled by 40, Lil Wayne, Boi-1da, The Weeknd, Just Blaze, T-Minus and more. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 with 631k sales in the first week. In its first week, the album also topped the Billboard Rap Albums and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on January 31, 2012, for sales of one million copies in the US. The album had sold 2,260,000 copies in the United States as of August 2015. The album was certified six-times platinum on September 27, 2019, in the United States, for combined sales and album-equivalent units of over six million copies. The project is currently six-time certified platinum by RIAA. The album also helped Drake earn his first Grammy Award for “Best Rap Album” in 2013.
At the 55th Grammy Awards, Take Care received a Grammy for Best Rap Album. Complex ranked it the fourth-best rap music album of the previous five years in 2013. Billboard rated it the sixth-best album of the decade in January 2015. (so far). Rolling Stone rated it the 95th best album of all time in September 2020.
