Doja Cat leads as the rapper with most Grammy noms this year.
The Recording Academy has finally unveiled the nominations for their 64th annual Grammy Awards which will take place on January 31st 2022. This year, musician Jon Batiste received the most, 11 nominations overall. In the Hip-Hop Genre, Doja Cat is the rapper with the most nominations this year, as she grabs a spot in 8 Categories.
Doja Cat earned noms in Album of the year with her latest project “Planet Her“. She received multiple nominations with her SZA collaboration “Kiss Me More“. Her “Need To Know” track is also nominated in Best Melodic Rap Performance. Doja Cat failed to get a spot in Best Rap Album, the category which had J. Cole, Drake, Nas, Tyler, The Creator and Kanye West.
Also, Happier Than Ever received Eilish nominations in multiple categories, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Music Video for its title single. Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, Eilish’s companion film, is also nominated for Best Music Film.
Doja Cat recently presented the MTV Video Music Trophies, where she took home a couple awards. She also took up three medals at the American Music Awards, including Favorite Female R&B Artist, Best R&B Album, and Collaboration of the Year, which took place on Sunday, November 21. She shared the most victories with Megan Thee Stallion and BTS.
This year, Jay-Z becomes the most Grammy-nominated artist ever as he surpassed Quincy Jones tally of 80 noms. H.E.R. also received eight noms in multiple categories like Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best R&B Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best R&B Song, Best R&B Album and more.
