DJ Premier responds to shout-out from Eminem at Rock Hall 2022.
A few days ago, Eminem was inducted into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, where he was honoured with the trophy by his longtime mentor and friend Dr. Dre. The Detroit rapper who gave a six-song performance at the event, named over 100 of his musical influences in the long speech at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.
The speech also includes Gang Starr, the duo of DJ Premier and Massachusetts rapper Guru, who died in 2010 from myeloma at the age of 48. After the shout-out from Eminem, DJ Premier took to his social media to acknowledge the rapper.
“Thanks [Eminem] for including [Gang Starr] in your acceptance speech at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction. To be mentioned along so many historic greats let’s us know we did it right and touched so many lives. Continue to be great. R.I.P. GURU,” he wrote.

“This sh*ts crazy. So I wrote some s**t down tonight that I’m never going to f**kin’ remember, so I had to read it off the paper and sh*t, but it’s from the heart,” Eminem said. “I realize what an honor it is right now for me to be up here tonight, and what a privilege it is to do the music that I love, and the music that basically saved my life.”
