Coi Leray wanted to give up on music, but Lil Durk stopped her.
Coi Leray is one of the rising stars in Hip-Hop music but the daughter of rapper and media mogul Benzino often faces hate on social media for her appearance, as well as for her music. During her Rolling Loud Miami performance a couple of months ago, she was trolled online for the dull crowd reception at the event. In a new revelation, the XXL Freshman 2021 artist said that she wanted to give up on music, but rapper Lil Durk motivated her and stopped her from doing so.
“Almost gave up one day and he told me don’t ever stop,” Coi Leray wrote in her IG story. “Most artist show love from a distance on some weird shit but this man right here believed in me, believe in No More Parties and been behind me ever since. He know a star when he see one and I just wanna thank you for all your support. OTF FOREVER.”
Coi Leray and Lil Durk previously worked together on the remix of her certified platinum single “No More Parties“, which also gave her first Billboard Hot 100 entry. The Boston artist recently released her new single “TWINNEM“.
Coi has faced backlash from individuals who have made derogatory remarks about her music and body since her song “No More Parties” went viral. She fired back at critics who were body-shaming her after her performance at the 2021 BET Awards in June. “Is there a certain way I’m supposed to look? Help me understand,” tweeted the “Okay Yeah” rapper. “In the Bible is it a sin to be thin? Help me understand. I hope all yall mothers got beach bodies.”
