“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” trailer released at San Diego Comic-Con.
It’s been an incredible last night for the Marvel fans as the movies and shows for the upcoming years have been announced at San Diego Comic-Con. One of the most anticipated ones is the sequel to Black Panther, which was released in 2018. The Ryan Coogler-directed “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” will be without the original actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020.
King T’Challa’s legacy will be upheld by the movie, as seen by the use of images from the original film’s protagonist, Chadwick Boseman, who passed away from colon cancer in 2020.
As it anticipates the coming of fresh life and a new chapter for the most developed country in the Marvel world, Wakanda, the teaser mourns the demise of its monarch while also paying tribute to his memory.
“Five years ago, I sat about right there, and we premiered the first footage from Black Panther,” Coogler recalled on stage. “Sitting next to me, right to my left, was our T’Challa, the late great Chadwick Boseman. The cast, including Chad, hadn’t seen the footage yet, so when we played it, he was right next to me, and he was excited, and he grabbed my shoulders. If you ever saw Chad in person, he had these enormous hands.”
He continued, “I promise you I can feel his hand on me now. Chad is no longer with us physically, but his spirit, his passion, his genius, his pride, his culture, and the impact that he made on this industry will be felt forever. We put our love for Chadwick into this film.”
The first official trailer kicks off with a mournful rendition of “No Woman No Cry”, and then transitions into Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright”. The track was the fourth single off Kendrick’s 2015 third studio album “To Pimp a Butterfly.” To Pimp a Butterfly became Kendrick Lamar’s first number-one album in the UK and sold 324,000 copies in the US in its first week of availability. It also made its chart debut at number one on the US Billboard 200. By 2017, one million copies had been sold in the US, and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) finally awarded it platinum certification.
The Compton rapper previously contributed to the first Black Panther film, with a full soundtrack album through Interscope Records. The album featured music from SZA, Schoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Vince Staples, Jay Rock, Swae Lee, Travis Scott and more.
