Benzino compares Will Smith-Chris Rock’s Oscars slap to 2Pac’s death.
It’s been over a week since the unfortunate incident happened at this year’s Oscars courtesy Will Smith and Chris Rock. The “King Richard” actor won his first-ever Academy Award but made the headlines for slapping the comedian for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Celebrities and fans are still weighing in on the viral moment, and now Benzino also addressed the situation, with a comparison to 2Pac’s death.
“He [Chris Rock] kept it going, and believe me under those circumstances not many could’ve. Big up to Chris Rock. People gotta understand, this is how 2Pac got killed. It was at an event, they seen somebody that supposedly took a chain, they jumped him. Then later on, ‘Pac got shot up in a car. That sh*t could’ve happened to Will Smith.”

He continued and addressed people saying that he deserved it, “I’m like, what if Will left… had gone to the party and then Will Smith’s car got shot up like 2Pac’s? Then everybody’s mourning and going crazy. No, it shouldn’t have happened. Will Should’ve held some constraint and some professionalism. And if it was that bad, bring your wife and check him backstage.”
He added, “I know I couldn’t have got the shit slapped out of me by a man and just would’ve stood up there like that, and [Chris Rock] had his hands in his pocket. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of it from Chris Rock.”
On September 7, 1996, 2Pac was wounded numerous times in a drive-by shooting while exiting the MGM Grand in Las Vegas after the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson fight. Pac and his posse had tackled Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, a Southside Compton Crip, in the hotel lobby over an alleged chain-snatching just hours before.
