In 2017, Griselda as a collective, and Benny’s fellow rappers and cousins Westside Gunn and Conway the Machine, signed a deal with Eminem’s Shady Records, a subsidiary of Interscope. After signing with Shady, Westside Gunn dropped his debut and only project through the label, “Who Made the Sunshine” in 2020. The rapper then revealed that he had fulfilled his contractual obligations to Shady Records and had become an independent artist.
Tana Talk 4 is the fourth album in his Tana Talk instalment, following Tana Talk 3 from 2018. The Alchemist, Daringer, and Beat Butcha collaborated on the album’s production. J. Cole, Diddy, Stove God Cooks, Boldy James, and 38 Spesh all make guest appearances, as do labelmates Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn.
Earlier this year, Conway The Machine dropped his Shady Debut “God Don’t Make Mistakes“, with guest appearances from Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Beanie Sigel and more. The project also completed Conway’s contractual obligations with the label. “I’m just thankful man, I’m blessed,” he said in an interview. “I appreciate everybody over there at Shady Records. From the top on down, Eminem, Paul, Tracy, Mike H… the whole building. I’ve never had an issue and I have no issues now. If that’s where my journey in life takes me to doing more business with Shady then I’m with that too. After this album, my contractual obligations will be fulfilled and whatever comes after that I’m gonna accept it and be thankful.”
