50 Cent reveals he thought his first meeting with Eminem was a prank.
50 Cent recently made an appearance on Gillie Da Kid and Wallo‘s Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, where the power mogul looked back at his career and shares some unheard stories.
During the conversation, the rapper recalled the hilarious first meeting with Eminem, who has been his friend for 20-plus years. “It was wild,” 50 Cent said around the 51-minute mark. “It felt like… Remember that show they had? Punk’d on MTV? I thought they had cameras and they was going to come out and say ‘You’ve been punked.'”
“He flew me to L.A., right?” 50 Cent shared. “I came out. I was so bugged out from the experience that I came through the airport with the vest and sh-t on. I’m lucky I took the shock plate out the front of the joint. Because when I came through, it didn’t. But the lawyer that I had with me that took me to [Eminem]. I get there he’s like, ‘Yo!’ He felt the vest and sh-t and was like…” he said before imitating Eminem’s reaction.
“‘Yo this is going to be the biggest sh-t right?'” 50 Cent revealed Eminem asking him. “He was so excited that it made me question whether what was happening was right ’cause I just wasn’t so used to it. It felt so good that it couldn’t be like right. I’m like ‘Yo, nah.'”
50 Cent was discovered by Eminem following his 2002 mixtape “Guess Who’s Back?”, and signed to his label Shady Records, an imprint of Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. After signing the deal, 50 Cent went on to drop “Get Rich or Die Tryin” album in 2002, which is one of the greatest rap albums of all time.
