Eminem talks about his Oscar Performance on Hotboxin podcast.
In the new episode of ‘Hotboxin’ Podcast‘, Eminem and Denaun sat down with Mike Tyson and Eben Britton for a 45-minute interview. On the show at around 31:05, the hosts appreciate Eminem Oscar’s ‘Lose Yourself’ performance but Eminem made an unimpressed face and revealed what actually went wrong during his oscar performance.
“When I went out there everything was cool.” said Eminem, “I go through the first verse and they had the mic pack that you wear to clip on your belt and then you got the in-ears that go in your ears so you can hear the sound, And I’m rapping and all of a sudden I see between my legs the motherf**king pack’s swinging. What the f**k?”
Eminem continued, “So then I try to Stick that bit*h in my and I am like no pockets back f**k so I am rapping the lyrics while I’m doing this and then I’m like let me put it in my front pocket. By that time the song is over and I’m like man, what the f*ck. We rehearsed for that sh*t, I know the words to ‘Lose Yourself’ but we rehearsed that sh*t extra, extra, extra just so we didn’t f**k that up and then that was the one thing we didn’t plan for and of course it went wrong. I was like ‘motherf**k…”.
Eminem added: “I ain’t watched it. I got creeped out, I don’t want to see this shit, I’ll just get angry.”
On 9the Feb Sunday night, Eminem’s apparently out-of-nowhere performance of his iconic smash “Lose Yourself” at the Oscars concluded off a montage of legendary songs from notable movies. However, it gave the rapper the opportunity to play his Oscar-winning song live at the awards presentation for the first time, 17 years after it won the Best Original Song prize.
Despite the audience’s obvious surprise when Eminem ascended the stage, it’s difficult to screw up a song as well-crafted and powerful as Eminem’s tribute to overcoming stage fright, “Stage Fright.”
