Tony Yayo looks back on studio sessions with Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent and more.
Tony Yayo recently made an appearance on DJ Vlad’s VladTv for a new interview, where they had a long conversation on several topics. In one of the part, the former G-Unit rapper looks back on the time when he was in studio sessions with the likes of Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kanye West and 50 Cent.
“I’ve been in the studio with Kanye a couple of times,” he said. “I remember him coming to Dre’s studio, ’cause everybody used to come to Dre’s studio. See, that’s why I’m so appreciative, ’cause those experiences for me, I would never forget. Forget the cars.. to be in the studio with Dr. Dre and Eminem, that was my dream.”
He continued, “Then we in the studio in Detroit.. it’s cold as a bi**h, we out there with Eminem. This [is] f**kin’ Eminem, this dude just sold 16 million records. We used to go to L.A. with Dre and then we’d go mess with Em.”
“That’s why I’m so humble, because my dreams came true, man. I might not have as much cars, chains and b*tches as any other rappers [but] it’s not about that. It’s about the experience, man,” he concluded.
During the interview, Yayo also brings up the well-known rivalry between 50 Cent and Kanye in 2007. On September 11th of that year, both musicians released their third studio albums, Curtis by 50 Cent and Graduation by Kanye West. These albums competed against each other on charts, as they both sought to be the most successful rapper at the time. Ultimately, Kanye West, a native of Chicago, emerged victorious, selling almost one million copies of his album in the first week.
In another part, Yayo recalls his and 50 Cent’s interaction with Busta Rhymes and stated why he thinks Fif is not interested in a Verzuz Battle.
