Tom MacDonald talks about being inspired by Eminem.
Tom MacDonald, the independent Canadian rapper recently sat down with ‘Before They Were Famous‘ for a new interview. In this show, he talks about his life before fame, recent success, and much more. He also talked about the cancel culture & toxic twitter along with Eminem stans, who recently had a go at him for allegedly taking shots at the Detroit rapper on his ‘Fake Woke‘ Song last month. Tom MacDonald talks about the Eminem influence and how he wouldn’t be here without him.
“Eminem is such a prolific character in Hip-Hop but his fan base is just so blinded by fandom,” says Tom. “I’ve owned every album that guy ever put of, with the exception of the last few years. But when I was a kid, that was like my go-to. I wouldn’t be here right now without Eminem. But just because Eminem inspired me and Eminem’s the greatest of all time does not make him immune to criticism and that’s how his fans feel. So just mentioning his name in the song started a whirlwind of sh*t.”
Last month, it had been reported that Eminem’s NTF beat “Stan’s Revenge” was bought by Tom MacDonald for $100,000. Few days passed, the Canadian rapper suffered the argument with one minutes and twenty seconds video.
“If I got a beat from probably the greatest rapper of all time, you should be happy, not mad. If I got a beat from the man who literally inspired me to become a rapper, you should be happy, not mad. If as an Independent artist I invested $100,000 into myself to further my independent career, you should be happy, not mad. If I got a beat from Eminem and made history as the first ever independent artist to do that, you should be happy, not mad.”
It’s still unknown if the Eminem-beat was purchased by MacDonald however the new music that he’s dropping this Friday is clearly impressed by Slim Shady as within the teaser of the video, Tom is holding the power saw, and “New Video Friday” is written with backward ‘E’, which, of course, symbolizes Eminem.
Earlier this month, Tom MacDonald also shouted out Eminem on his song called “Cancelled“. Check out his new interview below.
