Snoop Dogg shares details about the upcoming collab with Eminem.
Fresh off his appearance on The Breakfast Club, Snoop Dogg is now set to appear on an upcoming episode of the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast. During the episode, Snoop Dogg reveals apologizing to Eminem for disrespecting him last year, and also shared some details about their upcoming collaboration.
“I know how to call Marshall and say, man, I apologize,” Snoop says in the episode, which will premiere on October 29th. “‘I was wrong, bro. Do you forgive me?’ You got to understand we really love each other. So we don’t want the public to put a spin on something that’s not even that serious…. And we truly respect each other. So we wanted to get an understanding behind closed doors… We’re brothers, man. You know, my [real] brother hurt my feelings a lot of times — I wanted to join a gang and he wouldn’t let me!… You learn to understand and respect each other as brothers, as family members, and you respect each other’s opinions. And as long there was no disrespect directly or ill will, then it can all be forgiven and it can all be moving on.”
The feud between the two intensified when the Detroit rapper rapped on “Zeus,” “Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me/Nah, not really (Haha)/I had ‘dog’ backwards/But I’m starting to think, all these people takin’ shots at me.” The two had a falling out for a spell, but it appears that with the new collaboration track on the way, Eminem and Snoop are on better terms. During a recent Shade45 takeover, Snoop discussed his new album.
Snoop Dogg then revealed that he recorded a song with Eminem about two months ago. “And that motherf**ker slap,” says Snoop Dogg. “It was very challenging for me, I’ll say that. Eminem really f**king shot at me, he shot his shot. And as a rapper, that’s what you want when you get a feature, to have to f**king work your a** off. You want somebody to come to the playing field, putting up points, to where you got to rethink your sh*t and say, ‘Well, damn, this is what he thinks of me. That’s why he’s going so hard, because he knows that I’m going to match him on the same level.’ And that’s what it is when you make records with people that you love and family. It’s competitive, but it’s competitive for the right reasons to bring the best out of each other.”
Snoop Dogg and Eminem both will join Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige for a historic Superbowl Halftime show in February 2022. “Look at everybody who’s up there,” Snoop says. “And then look at what they mean to Dr. Dre. It’s a Dr. Dre presentation. So we’re basically getting his back, coming through like his soldiers are supposed to line up, when the general say, ‘Line up.’”
A brand-new joint track by Eminem and Snoop Dogg titled “From The D 2 The LBC” has been released. Snoop claims there is “no smoke in here” despite the obvious evidence of a massive blunt in the film’s opening scene, which features Eminem and Snoop in the studio. The video was directed by James Larese.
Em and Snoop then deliver their individual verses in the video while changing into animated Bored Ape-style avatars; the pair previously premiered the song live when performing at Ape Fest 2022.
