Russ lists his favourite rappers, talks new album “Chomp 2”.
Russ recently dropped his star-studded album “Chomp 2“, with features from lyricists like Jadakiss, Westside Gunn, Big Sean, Jay Electronica, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Ghostface Killah, Conway The Machine and more. During the promo run, he made a visit to Power 106, where he performed a LA Leakers freestyle over Outkast’s “Aquemini”.
Now a new interview on the show has been released, where he talked about the new project. On the show, Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk also asked the Atlanta rapper about his favourite Hip-Hop artists. “My thing is, there the best top 5, who I think is the best, and there’s my favourite top 5,” he said. “I can recognize that some people are better than others at rapping but they’re not my favourite.”
He continues, “Who’s my favourite? My favourite is, in no order, Eminem, Nipsey Hussle, J. Cole, Drake and Kanye West. That’s my favourite, but like who’s the best? best is like Black Thought, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne.”
Russ announced his top Hip Hop producers of all time in 2019, naming Scott Storch, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Boi-1da, and Timbaland. Those my top 5 producers in no order,” he tweeted. “I need the painting on some last supper GOAT sh*t.”
The rapper-most singer’s also appeared on The Breakfast Club, where he had a lengthy conversation with Charlamagne Tha God about a variety of subjects. That includes his relationships with the many talented rappers on his album, some of the top producers who worked on it, his efforts to gain the respect of those who have not yet done so, work on his ego, counseling, and much more.
Additionally, Russ discussed how he effectively navigates the independent music scene, why supporting his music is superior to receiving a “loan” from a major label, and how he signed rapper LaRussell as his first artist to his Diemon label.
