Kevin Gates supports Eminem in response to Melle Mel’s comments.
Kevin Gates chimes in on the ongoing debate about whether Eminem’s place in the top 5 rappers is solely due to his race. This comes after Melle Mel, the renowned rapper from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, recently claimed in an interview with The Art Of Dialogue that Eminem’s race played a significant role in his inclusion in the list. The topic has sparked controversy and differing opinions within the hip-hop community.
“To be honest with you, He [Eminem] is in my top 5 cause he’s the truth. Who can make a song like ‘Stan’? Who has made a song like ‘Stan’? The artistry of it…I don’t get into all that [white & black] thing. There are only real people and fake people. Real people do real things, fake people do fake things. I don’t go off all that.” said Kevin Gates.
“That’s his opinion. I don’t really care to be honest. Like I said, who can write a song like ‘Stan’? That’s my perspective. It’s all about the perspective and everybody is entitled to their own opinion in their own perspective. What I eat, does not make you sh*t. What you eat, does not make me sh*t.” He added.
Other rappers, including Fat Joe, 50 Cent, Kxng Crooked, and Page Kennedy, have voiced their disagreement with Melle Mel’s statement.
