Kevin Durant weighs in on 50 Cent vs Lil Wayne Verzuz debate.
There’s recently been a 50 Cent vs Lil Wayne Verzuz debate on the internet, which had fans and hip-hop names giving their views on the potential battle. During the recent episode of The ETCs, Kevin Durant also weighs in on the debate with co-host Eddie Gonzalez.
“I wouldn’t say 50 is going to flat-out wash Wayne,” he said. “I won’t say that out of respect for Wayne. But it’s not going to be a clear-cut win for Wayne against 50 Cent, and these records that he has from ’02 to, let’s say, ’07.”
He continued, “50 is… he’s one of the greatest… that five-or six-year period for G-Unit, and 50 was incredible. It’s like one of the best runs of all time in Hip Hop. A lot of people said that Wayne would just wash 50. And we definitely disagreed on that.”
“And he still a monster. A lot of sh*t and he’s had a 20-year run based off of what he created back then and saw many avenues that he built off of that run and had so many pivots in his career. 50 is one of the greatest.”
The topic sparked a heated debate on social media when Low Key of Apple Music claimed that Weezy would struggle in a potential battle against 50 Cent and have a “long f**king night.” Even Hot 97’s Ebro Darden chimed in, agreeing that 50 Cent would emerge as the winner and even stated that he would “wash” Wayne in a battle.
Previously, Young Guru stated that Lil Wayne would wash 50 Cent in a Verzuz showdown. Verzuz co-founder Swizz Beatz also reacted to the conversation and said that he is not up for the battle, as they are two different types of artists.
